Multitalented musician, composer and producer Andrew Keating has developed a unique form of hip-hop influenced by his background in classical, jazz and soul music. An accomplished electric bassist, he has soloed at Ryles Jazz Club, the Cambridge Riverfest, the Lily Pad in Inman Square, and the Saint Paul Christian Life Center. He received his early training as a classical cellist, and has played much of the classical cello repertoire. In addition to electric bass and cello, Andrew also enjoys playing keyboard and electric guitar. A talented producer and arranger, Andrew has developed his own work and the work of other songwriters in Finale, Ableton Live, Logic Pro, and Reason, also incorporating live instruments and vocals to create a rich musical tapestry. As a rapper, he has performed his own original music and is currently working on his first album entitled βThe Beauty in the Struggle.β His Cambodian-American background has given him a unique lyrical voice, documenting the identity struggle of people with a multicultural and multiethnic heritage in America. His music is an expression of the powerful emotions of past trauma and present hardships experienced by minorities and immigrants in American culture today.
